Body Language Auckland artist Michelle Menzies presents a quietly endearing story of a man unlucky in love, told through a series of pictorial mannerisms and postures sourced from a book about body language. In place of text, the hints of the body are used to develop the narrative, with quirky snippets of sound familiar to any Windows user, like the error ding and rustle of the recycle bin, interspersed as sonic punctuation. The result is a delightful and experimental play on our instinctual ability to understand and interchange bodies, faces, gestures and sound with text and the devices of story telling.
