Pauline is swollen? Sam Thomas once said that this wasn’t art but just hooliganism. Let’s keep this party pumping. Mixtures of silliness, Pauline formed in 2011 and has many tangy contributors and enemies. In an artist talk to Danny Butt’s University of Auckland 80+ FINEARTS 210G class, it is known that at least one person’s soul sank. I wish my name was Eddie Perfect. “Pauline is a collaborative, you know, whatever project. Um, interested in this kind of blur between (fashion and branding) whatever.” – synonymous. I got some gap filler and gummed up all the stitching of this dress I was making so it wouldn’t rip anymore, it’s taking ages to dry and I think my flatmate is getting a bit cranky, it’s been on the floor of our living room for 4 days now. I keep finding myself saying stuff like "OMG that is sooo Vivienne Westwood's pirate collection". The ethos of Pauline is… “Hang in there buddy”. Sincerely apologetic (Eddie Perfect) Pauline. X

Pauline continues to take different forms, presenting itself as a collective, a brand, an attitude. Its members work collaboratively across the disciplines of performance, sculpture, painting, and fashion, and have been known to expand temporarily to host other artists for an event, a situation or an idea. The ongoing project was initiated in 2011, and its members continue to study at Elam School of Fine Arts. Recent exhibitions include: Mumma Alien in the group show occasionalist, orchestrated by Rice and Beans, Artspace, Auckland (2012); 10m x 2.5m x 2m, Sue Gardiner’s Hallway, Auckland (2011); restrained elegance, Snake Pit, Auckland (2011).
