Tao Wells is a community conceptualist whose work critiques established systems of power and value. Based in Nelson, Wells works across painting, sculpture, performance and video, and has exhibited both nationally and internationally including at the P.P.O.W in New York, Peter McLeavey in Wellington, and Gertude Contemporary in Melbourne. He has collaborated extensively with Laura Wells, Dick Whyte, Terry Urbahn and the magazine White Fungus. His most recent project was The Risk of Listening, The Edge New Performance Festival, Auckland 2011.
